from geography as a bassline. · host substantive.material

OK, OK, OK… when you're hearing this in your world, you were hearing this one time this is only happened for you once… This is now my third This is now my third shot at this, which means I must really want to do this. Hmm... I really want to figure out a way to put art out into the world that is of, um, my making. I really want to be a part of art projects, the making of art other things. So you got to put your flag out, right? You gotta let people know what you do and what you're about. You can't be a mysterious node, randomly colliding with other nodes in in space, you know? You got to. You got to make yourself a network. That's how ecology works, right? No ecosystems. Hmm... Well, ecosystems are a function of ecology, so we got there eventually. I always think about me as a we, all of the selves, all of the me/s I've been up until now. And yet nonetheless, one consistent me. I have this thing that I say in my other life about consistency being a function of texture, not a function of frequency, as in number of times. Again back to the sun, thinking about how that baby just rises and sets, rises and sets, rises and stays there. and then sets and stays there. and nonetheless, each time right on time and nonetheless, by our measure, a different time every day. And we don't chastise the sun. We don't curse the sun when it's hot, maybe. When it's cold, we hope for it. But nonetheless, we're people of the darkness and light. We make people so wrong for just an illusory, slippery concept called time that measures its most consistent partner with a kind of disparaging accuracy telling us that it will be here, but just at a different time tomorrow. I think about, like, kind, the state of being kind: kindness. How that's something a little bit entirely different than mere gratitude, but gratitude is kind of like it's gateway drug. and, gratitude got beat up during the early 2000s, so we like to use the word appreciation these days. I love how vernacular grows and morphs and changes and demands otherwise of people. Like if you just keep hanging out with folk, you'll be forced to keep up with how folk communicate, connect, reflect, and otherwise, together. What does it mean to be seated with the people? Hmm... anywhere you go; i digress. And so I present stall part one. I don't even know if I put it into parts in the pieces, but it is nonetheless four parts, so we'll start with the first one now. With love, cute/q. stall[ed]. part one (top; repetition/same, bottom; difference/different) clawing climbing ascension tires a soul tales of tiptoeing on tastes; gourmand the huffed breath against dawns effort mourning was held background captured by light its brilliance how they are overlooked in a monotony of repetitious awe; its inspiration where imagination nurtured you before hands failed perfectly into arms softened forever whispering sonnets tension we are found not in pursuit we are found further inside we are fooled by inside we make made it enter in yet still further away reaching less touch idle further lest lost us we are fooled with inside a fugitive of bonds; forever teased us with softness water brewed leaves hibiscus blossom { } our palpable disrespect Get full access to substantive.material at substantivematerial.substack.com/subscribe
