Point & Click Radio: Mendocino Community Network for Sale

July 13, 2022--Hosts Bob Laughton, Jim Heid and Toby Malina cover last week’s decision by the Mendocino Unified School District to sell Mendocino Community Network, one of the pioneering internet service providers in our area. MCN broke new ground in the 1990s, when it brought internet access to local schools, to teachers, and to the local community. (Prior to MCN, getting online meant making expensive toll calls to Santa Rosa.) But a combination of factors — from declining school enrollment to changing technologies to personnel shortages — have led to MUSD’s decision to sell MCN.
