Japan is a serious outlier. Brooks show where Japan would be placed on “best fit” type line. Were it there, it would trigger a debt crisis for Japan. Japan has been selling US treasuries at a shortening frequency to prop up its currency. The US is very concerned with the pressure this is creating on US treasury bonds, hence the $5 to 10 billion bailout.
