What's up everybody and welcome back to another episode of Gamescast Plays. Your afternoon stream, but with a twist where we dive a little bit deeper, we answer your questions and we bring a little bit of an editorial vibe to our afternoon stream and today I got a phone because I got my Pokemon master, a Pokemon champion over here. Oh yeah. Did you beat Leaf Green yet?

I beat Leaf Green two days ago. So you are champion. You're a legend here. We're going to play Pokemon champions.

Yeah, the brand new Pokemon experience. And bless you did a great preview already with Jake Deckard from from Kingspot, GameSpot, which got me excited. But also now that I've experienced this game of just a little bit, it is not what I thought it was. What did you expect?

I guess I was hoping more for a Pokemon stadium experience, which I feel like this is kind of that. But this is also very much. We're looking for the channel there. That's why.

But what I was looking for. Oh, I didn't know if you adjusted the camera. It's not like I said. Yeah.

I adjusted it with less. Yeah, yeah. For you to be. I'll get down.

So what I thought, bless, was I get Pokemon stadium, right? Like, hey, here it is. And I was hoping for every Pokemon. This very much feels like, hey, this is going to be the competitive, like kind of bare bones, just competitive fighting.

And it was interesting because I was trying to find the words for it during the preview of how I want to talk about it. Because like one of the things I wrote down and I was like, I don't know if this is offensive to say about it is that if you have less of a game and more like an application, you know what I mean? Like it is very much you're going in. You're recruiting a Pokemon a day and you're going in and you're just battling.

You're just battling. And it's so weird because that's a person who listens to the preview, but it's still like coming in very fresh, right? Bless my expectations or, okay, I'm going to get some sort of Pokemon stadium. Then all of a sudden, I go into the Nintendo store and I go, oh my God, it's free to play.

Yeah, but there's a six dollar welcome pack and I'm like double check. I'm like, are you sure you don't want to give me, you don't want me to give me $60? I'm ready to give you $60. And so then I finally download it.

I get hit with a bunch of blessing, a bunch of stellar cut scenes and like CGI video. Oh, this is how every Pokemon should look. And then I kind of get bogged down and wait two minutes. Yeah, that's my experience.

Then you get into the full to do much. Then it's just too much time. Too much time. Which is why I'm glad I booted up last night because like, oftentimes for games, test plays, it could be like, oh, let's start from a fresh save, but I was so antsy to get in.

I started playing last night and for most of the time I was playing, it's like, cut. I'm like, okay, well, now I'm just talking to these characters. Oh, I never going to talk to again because it's not that kind of game. Yeah, it's a whole thing.

But now we're here with it. And it's such an interesting one because what they're big questions we had about Pokemon champions. The number one question probably was, all right, what are the microtransactions like? Like what are the purchases?

Yeah, free to play game. Well, are there microtransactions? You guys came back from a few. We're like, we didn't see.

No, yeah, they wouldn't tell us. I'll show us any of the stuff that is like purchasing. As you can see, there is a premium shop. If you hop into the premium shop for two, there are two things for sale.

There's a premium battle pass for $10. And then, oh, you want to bring me a battle pass? I mean, what if I'm going to play? I want to earn them all I play.

So of course, about that. That's how I saw that one. You know what I mean? Games free to play battle pass for $10.

Okay, cool. Reward me while I play. Yes. So I get more things because like you said, it feels like an application.

It feels very bare bones. So if you don't have anything to break to it, like me, who doesn't have a Pokemon home account, who doesn't have Pokemon stuff, I'm kind of like, you got to give me things. So I'm encouraged to play. And as you can see, I'm on the free battle pass here, right?

And so, you know, I got, you can earn Pokemon here, which is quite in real out, which I know this is premium. But yeah, you have that you get the quick coupons, you get these teammate tickets, which we'll get to. These are all used for recruiting. I guess training ticket is used for training and stuff like that.

But for these premium items, it's like you're earning these mega evolution stones and you're earning Pokemon themselves and you have a trainer icon here. Got some cosmetic stuff as well. Yeah, and then yeah, you go to the shop alongside the battle pass, you then in the premium shop have the memberships, so you buy a one membership or a 12 month membership. I'm not doing that.

I'm not doing that either. But you do get more bots bases. You get, I don't know what battle teams plus 15 is. Maybe that's like preset teams that you can assign.

Those are your loadouts of teams? Yeah, yeah. You have exclusive missions, which I guess are just daily or whatever. Yeah.

And then you have exclusive battle songs. Honestly, I don't really like that. That was odd to me when I went to the shop and the stuff that they're selling. It's like battle songs.

I'm like, OK, I don't like that. And then you go into the shop and then you have the non premium shop, the frontier shop, where you can spend VP. VP is the currency you earn in the game called victory points. And you spend VP on all these things, held items which are the items that you can use in battle, megastones for the mega evolutions, clothing options for your character, accessories, hair and cosmetics, pre-battle poses, which I think is cool in theory, but they're expensive as hell.

Why are shoots 4,000? VP. Why are there shoots to the most expensive thing on the game? Why are throwing styles 5,000 VP?

And I'm sure we'll see how much they deal out the VP. It seems like they might be more generous than I'm giving them credit for. Because you start off with 10k, every win you get in a ranked battle, you get 300. But then you also have missions and stuff, which I claimed a bunch of them at the start of the day, where I came in and said, here's a bunch of VP.

Maybe they're more generous than I'm giving them credit for. But you also have songs that you can buy, which honestly, I like Pokemon Fire Red and Ukraine. OK. Have you decked out your play with cosmetics?

No. Well, I mean, I customize them because this is how he looks, right? Oh, yeah, you got to change that. OK, that's a bad top and short, short combo, buddy.

OK, well then, where do we go? I mean, we got to deal with red. So here's the deal, like red's my favorite color. OK, I love you and red.

I like red. So I don't like any of these weird nylon t-shirts. I'm sleeveless, though. You're like, you are going poppy right now.

Maybe you can find that with red. That red jersey looks good on you. That red yellow jersey looks good. I like this.

Yeah. I like that. Because what you got to do, though, is before you spend, you have to look at the pants. You have to make sure you're building out the best look.

Because there's also jackets that you're going to put over this. Oh, I even see that. Yeah, there's like jerseys, there's crop top, there's go sweaters. Can I go just the crop top?

You think Pokemon will allow me? No, I think you always have a t-shirt underneath it, unfortunately. What are you doing here? This is so expensive.

Yeah, so I had to immediately spend $10,000 on this. I didn't even have enough to deck it all out. I had to get another extra $10,000 for my gift to buy the shoes. I don't know about all that, though.

I don't know about that. Because I'm not rolling up to a polky battle. I'm not fucking sneezed up dressed up. With the shoes, though?

Like, where are the shoes at? Are they in this menu? Accessory. No, no.

They're in the clothing. You keep going. They got weird gloves. I don't like the sale of socks.

I'll say it right now. If you're selling socks, I don't like that. See, I don't like these options. What is this?

Oh, belts. Okay, this is what we're going to do. I'm just going to buy... Get crazy with it, bro.

What happens? Can I just unclip a shirt? Where's the menu to let me just customize my gosh? Style.

Sleeze it. Okay, so I have to have something on. Yeah. You can't go.

You can't go. Just crop top. There's no belly buttons in the Pokemon world. I just want to go crop.

They don't let you show your belly button like that. What other pants do I have? No, I just have that. Oh, I have...

Those are your underpants. Okay, they'll only default when I use these. He's dialing in. Okay.

So then, I love how we're spending our time. I'm not going to get to the medics right now. Like, get to the Pokemon. It's because Mike is microtransaction-tapping.

You know? I mean, you got to give good notes. No microtransactions. The chat, I'm sure, is celebrating that and loving that.

There's no way to spend. And I thought about that and I was like, is that to keep the whales away because this is your competitive title so you avoid people, spend thousands of dollars to buy the best Pokemon? Is that what we're doing here? Can I get these pants?

I like these pants. I like these pants. Alright, I'm getting these out. I'm not spending all that though.

I'm not spending all that. You better go home then. Yeah, we're going to... Go out there and look like a buster then.

Okay, that's a lot of money to spend on these pants. But then also, are you spending money on training? No, you're earning money by training. Oh, you earned by training?

Yeah, apparently people will tell you you earned a lot of BP by doing this. Okay, okay. Yeah, I think this one got my extra 10 Gs. You do double battles battle battle.

Yeah, yeah, we'll do that real quick. So there's a problem with this game now. What's that? When you think of Pokemon, you think of, usually, single battles with six Pokemon under your head.

Well, more than the kind of people will tell you double battles. I get, well, that would be evolved to that. But like, here's the catch. There's not even that.

The most basic of Pokemon battles. Yeah. What's up with that? Why am I choosing a portion of my team and not just playing what Pokemon is.

So for a context, if you do a singles battle, you go in, you have your teams of six, but you have to choose three to do the battle because you see your opponent's team and it's about now pick up the right... We're playing a guessing game. Yeah. You're playing a guessing game.

All right, that's the six they have. What, like, what three out of my six do I want to choose? That I think are going to be good about. Yeah.

I guess whatever they choose. For doubles, you're seeing their six and you're picking four of yours, which honestly, even on with you, that like, I think traditionally six V six, I do think the strategy of having to pick based off of what you see. You see? Yeah, it's like a lot of people know that's a competitive way.

Like, that leads this to more of like, this is an application, competitive Pokemon. This is not a game that little Susie and Billy are growing up with Pokemon Stadium like you and I were where it's like, oh, this is my next Pokemon game. No, this feels more like an application is right. Exactly.

Okay, I'm not going to get everything. Do you, because one of the things I compared this to you during the preview was Magic the Gathering Arena. And do you see what I'm talking about now? Yes.

Right? Where it is very much like, oh, you're just coming in here to battle. Show me the recruiting. Well, before I do that, I got enough money.

Oh, you ready to sneeze up? I'll go buy. Yeah. This is their new official competitive battler, Barnell says.

So not a game. But like if the competitive players don't like it, what are we doing this? Because the competitive players are tearing this thing apart. You can't be a competitive battler if the competitive players don't like it.

What's funny though, is that I like it. I played it last night, really into it. I think I... So what are you?

Are you a casual fan? I'm a casual, I'm a casual battler. You know? I'm like a intermediate Pokemon fan.

You know? I'm in the middle. I'm not that hardcore. I'm not that casual.

I'm in the middle. But when it comes to battling, I'm casual. I'm not that good at all. Are you going to go out and play?

Yeah. Well I'm excited to jump in. I'm really looking forward to recruiting and battling all the time. Like, the last night I downloaded this because I was like, I cannot wait to experience this in triumphs.

Now my expectations weren't different than what it is. But I am so excited to battle. In that thrill of the chase of like, you show me yours. I'll show you mine.

Now let's see who picks the right. Who picks them. Who picks the right game. Yeah.

I think that's fun. Where did I hear him? I hate the foam. Where I remove it.

No, I've heard him on your ears a whole time. It's because I hate it. Alright. Let's go to recruit.

because I took, so right before this, I booted up Pokemon Scarlet. As you can see, I redonely to RCS. My most people just Pokemon. It's just Pokemon.

If you go further, ZA, there's a copia there, right? I'm Pokemon out right now. Cause your goal was to suck Pokemon from your other game. Yes.

So I took the Pokemon from Scarlet. I put them into home. So right now my Scarlet team will go to WAC right now. But they're all in home.

How do I get my Pokemon from home? Cause I go here, now checking. To bring your Pokemon to the champions, you'll need to link your game to Pokemon home. Chad, what does, you have to go to the home app and transfer them to champions?

All right, we're gonna go there. Okay. I like it, I like it. I like it.

Is it safe to stream home? I'm not gonna like, don't do it, there's a bug. We're not doing it. We're doing it.

Why not? So what happens? So it's fine to be home. As a player, I just play the Pokemon game.

You wanna go to the Pokemon? Oh, okay. Then we're not doing that. Yeah, no, we're not doing that.

Okay. We're not doing that. Pokemon home is basically like your home bank for Pokemon. It's where it is the thing that keeps your Pokemon between different games.

You can import them there and now like cool. I can export this to Scarlet. I can export this to champions. I can put this in like other Pokemon games.

We're just hanging out with it. Can you export Pokemon from home to like a Scarlet? I know you can export them into champions, which I'm excited about. People say so far I've transferred 15 Pokemon and had no issues.

I did it in a work fine. Jacob says. If you were saying yes, you can. Okay, perfect, perfect.

There's no bug. I've transferred around 50. So you're just allowed to transfer any Pokemon? So there's this game to have every Pokemon or not?

No, you can't transfer every Pokemon. I don't think that one. Only the Pokemon that are... So they tell you what are compatible.

They tell you what's compatible. Okay. Y'all are scaring me. Oh, am I at home right now?

Oh, I'm at home. I actually know. Yeah, you're already deep in home. I'm at home.

How do I get to my bank? Okay, this is the decks. Okay. I'm at deposit Pokemon.

If I just go here. Yeah. Oh, shouldn't what should we call it be here? Shouldn't champions be here?

Ooh. What do you mean premium plan? Right corner. There we go.

Thank you, chat. Now, chat, do I have to pay for this? Because I don't have the premium situation. Oh, you got to be paying, though.

We'll give him a little money. Cut him a little piece off the top. Oh, yeah, you see here? So you have the thing that says this can't come through.

Okay. So I want my Skeleturge. Yeah. So I want Tinketun.

Okay. You might still be, I'm putting the mall in there. This is my team from Scarlet. Okay.

Actually, I'm putting all of them in there. Might as well. So you're taking these Pokemon from Scarlet so you can't use them anymore in Scarlet? Correct.

Yeah, right now, these Pokemon aren't. Let's make it official. What about do I press? Send for a visit.

Is that it? Warning. Well, Pokemon is visiting Pokemon champions. It'll be unable to.

Okay. So if these Pokemon get lost yet, I will. They mean something to you. I will.

Yeah, they mean something to me. So now when you click on Scarlet, you're telling me this Pokemon are just gone? Yeah. That's what I'm saying.

That's what I'm saying. I guess I'm just like, I'm just a Pokemon. I was just playing the game. Yeah.

They're so serious about it. Where I had to open up Scarlet and take the Pokemon out of my party because they're all in my party. I had to put them in the box. Yeah.

And then I go home and I take them from the box and I can see them leaving Scarlet. It's like, all right, cool. I'm taking it from Scarlet, putting it in home. Okay.

And now they're just not in Scarlet. Yeah. And I'm like, now I'm scared because I'm like, oh my Pokemon, they're not home anymore. Yeah.

You know what I mean? Scarlet is their home and now they're just not there. I don't know. I'm like, you can always put them back.

What do they get lost? I'm looking forever. Let me double check this. Yeah, fuck it.

Just ride. You'll never play Scarlet again. That's the other thing is you're right. I'm never playing Scarlet again.

You're never playing Scarlet again. Don't worry about it. Yeah. That's the other thing I'd remind myself.

Like, I'm not playing Scarlet. So, okay. So, go to recruit. And then we collect Pokemon from home.

Okay. Wow. There you go. Take them.

You collect Pokemon from home. I hope I'm trying to be determined. Not even if you're not. Okay.

Okay. All right. You essentially added six Pokemon to your permanent roster via that. Yeah.

Is that correct? Yes. So then what is a normal person who say does an amp Pokemon home? What does it look like?

How do I recruit Pokemon? No. And what does it look like to me? Then what are you going to do?

Right. You're going to go to recruit. The recruit menu. They're just that.

You're going to hit recruit Pokemon. Yeah. Now, Mike, you get one free recruit for a day. Okay.

All right. Every 20% Pokemon match. I mean, they'll give you some at the beginning. Okay.

Every three Pokemon at the beginning. Dude, Lindsey, everybody gets the same like five Pokemon. Okay. No.

You're just collecting them. Like you get one free role essentially. Okay. After you pick, you then decide if you want to rent it.

Yeah. Which is temporary. Or if you want to keep it by spending. So here are my options for the day.

Yes. Right here in front of me. And so there's my goal to be like, hey, I'm building out this squad. I'm missing a nine tails.

Yeah. A fire type. I should add this to it. 100%.

Okay. And so you're going to select. I don't like these. You want me to reel.

I love that we have to have the key Pokemon today. Pokemon fight and game is very important. It's competitive, you know. It's a good Pokemon.

That's crazy. Because it's ground and flying. I think that's a unique type. Okay.

Okay. Although I'm going to check. Let me check its ability. Because you have the move list of course, exchange moves and training and stuff.

Abilities are interesting. Who's the Pokemon's evasive? That's like 25% in the same form. Which doesn't really help.

People are like, it wins a cop. It wins a cop. It wins a cop for support. Let's see.

It has move last. It has a 10% chance of lowering target. Special attack. As growth.

Boost users attack and special attack. And harsh sound like Eastats. We boosted. Okay.

It has light screen. You have the user side. Light screen for five turns. Oh yeah.

Let's. You're not getting nick because he doesn't care about Pokemon. It has damage taken from special moves and double battles. Okay.

Light screen is good. Light screen is good. And then you have charm. Yeah.

Lowers the targets attacks at like you stayed. Then you have Frank's drill set. Increase the priority of the Pokemon status moves by one stage. Increase the priority of the Pokemon status moves.

I don't know what that means. What's the status move chat? Oh nice. You got to know all the terminology.

That's like you're inflicting burn. Oh. So is it like if you're inflicting burn or poison or something you go first? Like the priority of the turn.

Every move that is an attacking has priority. Like quick attack. I see. Oh he likes that.

That is really fire actually. Hold on. You're right. Okay.

We're picking up one. So now what are we doing here? Now you can do try recruitment. Okay.

You have that you spend nothing. Yeah. It's free. But you only have that Pokemon for seven days.

Okay. You can spend VP to recruit that Pokemon permanently or you can spend these tickets. I forgot what they're called. They're um.

But just tickets. Um you can spend one of these tickets to recruit permanently. So you have 25 tickets. I have 25 tickets.

Yeah. I have of course 12,000. Love that. I love that.

I think this is why I want to keep. Okay. Okay. And that's it.

I'm going to go back here. I can spend these other tickets. The quick coupons. I got a new lineup.

I got a new lineup. You want to roll it? Roll it. Fuck it.

Everything is currency. Yeah. Everything is currency. Oh.

Greninja. Pucking roll. Big roll. Big roll.

Yeah. Right shoe. You actually got a big ball. You got the cool dinosaur one too.

You got that dinosaur. Blastoise. You actually got a pretty big. This is a big year.

Shit. I'm so I'm leaning. I'm leaning instead of roar a little bit. Yeah but see now you got to kind of know what your squad is.

Do you know all the Pokemon you already have? So like now they catch like do you know what you need to compliment here? That's actually a really good point. I have my main Pokemon right now is Ceruleg.

Oh no sorry not Ceruleg. Okay. Armor Rouge. Yeah.

Armor Rouge is I believe Fire and Ghost. Okay. I have a Typhlosion that's a Hawaiian. No.

Pissewen. Okay. I guess it went something like that. Yeah.

Instead of Roar's the best Pokemon in all of ETC says Ghost Jacob. There you go. Shut it down. What's the ultimate date?

Hold on. What's the ultimate date? When the Pokemon enters the battle it lowers the tax date. Yeah that's pretty good.

It's pretty good. You pulled it. Pulled a champion right there. I feel like Raishu and Takario though.

These are all...man. That is instead of Roar the move. They're saying Bless is golden. Okay.

Yeah. It's gonna be great like we pull up the Bless is like team. It's nothing but Fire Pokemon. That's what it's about to look like.

It really is Fire Pokemon is my team. Because I'm gonna have my Skeleger. What if I just become a Fire Retreat? What if I just become a Fire Retreat?

He's not having to have six Fire Pokemon every single time. Alright let's go. That's how you recruit right there. Fire recruit.

Then you have the... I'll show you the boss. Show me the box. Show me everything.

His box is where you store all your Pokemon here. I see it. So right now my actual team is Armor Rouge, Dragon Knight, Typhlosion, Zorar which I like Zorar a lot. Oh yeah.

He has an ability called Illusion. What happens is if I switch in Zorar he comes in disguise as another Pokemon. Yeah. But people don't know.

So like who come in looking like a Dragon Knight. If you were like oh let me do something against Dragon Knight but it's not Dragon Knight. Yeah. And then he reveals himself.

I got Sloking and then I got Corvik Knight. And they all have items as well equipped to them. They all have those. Did you get those given to you?

Or did you buy all these? He's the ones you start off with. Okay. So, oh interesting.

It won't let me do Torus. Why? Why not? I don't know what that is.

Check, somebody explain that if you know. If he's not usable in the same. Now they're all the same level. When you battle Pokemon everybody's the same level.

I think they equalize all the levels. Okay. So you never had a disadvantage. Oh it has moves that aren't released in this game.

So this is the one that I imported. It has moves that aren't interesting. Oh you can see it there. Yeah.

Sorry what you're saying? No I'm just soaking it all in. I have a lot of questions about like when you say all this is the application for competitive play. But like, you're not going to get a lot of things.

I'm not going to get a lot of things. Sorry what you're saying? No I'm just soaking it all in. I have a lot of questions about like when you say all this is the application for competitive play but like certain things aren't in it.

Kind of like bothers me a little bit of like what do you mean if you made that shouldn't everything be ready to rock and roll. But it's an odd rollout. It's a really odd rollout. I think both from all the complaints from the people who are in competitive.

And then also just like the microtransaction stuff. I know it's great that it doesn't have microtransaction. We're celebrating that. But I think the currency system in this game is just so weird and interesting.

And I don't know how I feel about it yet. I think as I feel it out maybe I'll be like settling on okay it's fine. Competitive has regulations which often Pokemon restrictions. I like that.

So it's like magic. I get that which like certain cards are banned or like we're moving on from certain stats. I get that right. What is in Vogue what's not in.

But like why not have every Pokemon available ready to rock and roll and just play off of that. Am I just going to be a fire trainer? Because like this is kind of crazy. I got Incineroar.

I got Skeletor. I got Typhlogen and I got Armerude. That one kid just like man I hope I brought my blast toys. I kick.

They're also let's see. For secondary types right you got a psychic. We got Ghost. It's another ghost.

So I think I get rid of Typhlogen. Yeah. Let's get rid of Typhlogen. Is mouse hold competitively viable?

You can get a free Machamp. Big Fresh says hey get your free Machamp. Where's the free Machamp? There's a super chat from Big Fresh who says mystery gift code champion with a 10 instead of the IO for a free Machamp.

So you go to your mystery gift. You go get that. Let's go and see that. Who doesn't love a Machamp.

So we go to mystery gifts. Champion. You get the IO put a 10 in there. I love how IO isn't even an option.

They knew. Free gift isn't found. Your gift will be sent to your mailbox. Hey.

There you go. Oh, I got him. Nice. So now we're ready.

We are dialing in our team. We're dialing in the team. We definitely want to train. What is training?

Training. I'm glad you asked. There's no Pokemon levels here. No, but you can adjust their stats and their movesets.

So let's go. Oh, who do you want to train? Yeah. Let's do it.

Let's do it. I love it. So everything you change is going to cause VP. That's important though.

Because you can change the satellite. You see the up and the down there with this point. Yeah. Yeah.

Who doesn't love this shit? Yeah. So your Pokemon can be serious, lonely, infinite, flat, fly. And based off of its alignment, you can then, that'll then essentially change.

Each Pokemon have a different alignment than it wants or is there just one golden goose alignment for everyone? It depends on, I think your strategy with that one. If a Pokemon has all special attacks, for example, it's like you might worry a lot about the special attacks being able to go up and then maybe physical attack isn't as important. So much as if you press Y, you can see the most used option, which I love.

You. That's it. So everybody. 59% of your Pokemon are using terrible.

Alright, we're going careful then. It's really cool. Yeah, careful alignment. Now I wonder is that just because it was the starter one of it?
