Polio has reared its ugly head in the Philippines after officially being eradicated some nineteen years ago. This has prompted aid agencies to scale up efforts in an effort to help contain the virus. According to the World Health Organization, polio, which has no cure, can be prevented with multiple doses of a safe and effective vaccine. More than two billion children globally are protected against polio through these vaccinations. Chris Staines, Head of Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, IFRC says it is not yet known how the virus made an alarming come-back after all these years....
