Pope Urges Global Action on Congo Ebola | US News

Pope Leo is sounding the alarm as Ebola ravages the Democratic Republic of Congo, claiming over 2,500 lives and setting record case numbers — this is Congo’s deadliest outbreak yet. In his Sunday prayer, he calls for urgent global action, stressing that local communities must lead prevention efforts alongside international support. With this being the 17th outbreak in Congo’s history and the most severe since 2018-2020, the Pope’s plea underscores the need for coordinated, solidarity-driven response to save lives and stop the spread.
