Portland State Lands GNAC Freshman of the Year

Portland State Mens Basketball Secures Top Transfer: Dennis Johnson Joins Rising Program Portland State mens basketball coach Jase Coburn has secured a significant signing for the 2026-27 season, with guard Dennis Johnson transferring from Western Washington University. Johnson, a six-foot-three sophomore, earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference freshman of the year honors and averaged 12.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game last season. Coburn praised Johnsons competitive edge and potential, highlighting his improving stats and versatile game. The Seattle native built his reputation at Renton High School and Phoenix Prep, where he earned two league MVP awards and put up impressive numbers as a senior. Johnson joins a Portland State team that recently claimed the Big Sky regular season crown, finishing with a 20-11 record and 13-5 conference record. Coburn was named coach of the year, and the addition of Johnson, along with earlier signings of guards Trevor Frank and Emil Skyttä, further strengthens the Vikings roster. Expect Johnson to make an immediate impact and help push the Vikings to new heights next season. Support the show: Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
