Following some announcements from Steve Smith, Bob Short introduces a new sermon series, "Portraits of Faith." Bob presents a Biblical character study of Mark, the gospel writer who by many accounts was not always portrayed favorably, but in the end was a faithful servant of Christ. Our reputation may tempt us to self-promote or get discouraged and quit. Just as Jesus "made Himself of no reputation" (Phil. 2:7), Mark followed that example and persevered in serving Christ by faithfully using the gifts God gave him—leaving us a great example of using our spiritual gifts despite the judgment of others.
