  6. 15

The Gospel of John, Week 16

Cornerstone Community Church :: Kyle Clarkson :: Sunday, June 23, 2013 "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way..." The Gospel of John, Week 13

Cornerstone Community Church :: Austin Temperley :: Sunday, June 2, 2013 Our CONNECT service opens with an update on our conversations with Olivet Church, followed by an elders update from Alan Crim. Our series on the Gospel of John continues with Austin Temperley teaching from the adulterous woman account in chapter 8 with four points: 1) There is a wrong way to be right; 2) Motivation matters when we judge; 3) You can teach an old dog new tricks; and 4) Christians have been forgiven and should therefore live differently.

  10. 11

The Gospel of John, Week 11

Cornerstone Community Church :: Nick Reed :: Sunday, May 19, 2013 To east or not to eat: Nick Reed covers two passages in John 6, issuing a couple challenges. Are we experiencing God's power to multiply by giving Him what we have, or are we just filling up with what He's given us? (6:1-15) Are we more concerned with temporary pleasure, or with seeking eternal fulfillment in Christ? (6:25-59)

  11. 10

The Gospel of John, Week 10

Cornerstone Community Church :: Kyle Clarkson :: Sunday, May 12, 2013 "When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6) Our Mother's Day service begins with an important and exciting update on our relocation efforts from Rollie Clarkson, followed by a video about 'Being Mom' (which you can view here). Kyle Clarkson finishes with a message from John 5, where Jesus heals a paralytic man, and in doing so shows His concern for not only the physical state but also the condition of our heart and soul.

  12. 9

The Gospel of John, Week 9

Cornerstone Community Church :: Alan Crim :: Sunday, May 5, 2013 For this week's ministry spotlight, guest Chris Wilson from JUMP (Johnston Youth Mentoring Program) presents this important program and challenges Cornerstone with giving mentoring a try. Then Alan Crim preaches from John 4:46-54, the story of Jesus and the royal official, connecting faith in Christ to a need, a motive, and the increase that results.

  13. 8

The Gospel of John, Week 8

Cornerstone Community Church :: Kyle Clarkson :: Sunday, April 28, 2013 Jesus put His reputation aside to love and care for people, like the woman at the well on John 4, whom He came to die for. Kyle Clarkson speaks about a God who is seeking us out. His message follows a guest ministry spotlight on Freedom For Youth, a Des Moines ministry, presented by founder Mark Nelson (Introduction by Geri Seiberling).

  14. 7

The Gospel of John, Week 7

Cornerstone Community Church :: Kyle Clarkson :: Monday, April 22, 2013 "the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in Him.” Kyle Clarkson delivers the same good news that Jesus gave to Nicodemus on John chapter 3, the Gospel that saves and gives new life.

  15. 6

The Gospel of John, Week 6

Cornerstone Community Church :: Tim O'Byrne :: Sunday, April 14, 2013 "His disciples remembered that it is written: 'Zeal for your house will consume me.'" Following a report from Nate McCoy on his recent missions trip to the Dominican Republic, Tim O'Byrne continues a series on the Gospel of John, exploring what Jesus was passionate about (which is what we should be passionate about too).

  16. 5

The Gospel of John, Week 5

Cornerstone Community Church :: Nick Reed :: Sunday, April 7, 2013 Christianity isn't about rules, traditions, or moral living; it's about Jesus Christ. Following a ministry spotlight on our Sunday School by Kara O'Byrne and Traci Thomas, Nick Reed preaches about the wedding at Cana in John 2, where Jesus first miracle of turning water into wine overturned the cultural expectations for salvation and established Christ as the center. Do we make our Savior the center of all we do?

  17. 4

The Gospel of John, Week 4 (Easter)

Cornerstone Community Church :: Kyle Clarkson :: Sunday, March 31, 2013 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" (1 Cor. 15:55) Sin and death have no power because Jesus Christ has conquered both when He died and rose again. This Resurrection Day sermon by Kyle Clarkson relates the story of Easter as God reaching down, giving us His Son and asking us, as Christ did with His first disciples in John 1, "Follow Me."

  18. 3

The Gospel of John, Week 3

Cornerstone Community Church :: Alan Crim :: Sunday, March 24, 2013 For this week's Ministry Spotlight, Ashley McCoy describes the problem of human trafficking and how the Church can practically help victims in Iowa. Alan Crim follows with a Palm Sunday message on "John the Witness" from John 1. John the Baptist was a man who was credible, courageous, and all about Christ as he came to bear witness to the Light. John's message to "behold the Lamb" is the same one we are called to deliver as witnesses in this world.

  19. 2

The Gospel of John, Week 2

Cornerstone Community Church :: Kyle Clarkson :: Sunday, March 17, 2013 Kyle Clarkson preaches on the Gospel of John 1:1-18, a beloved disciple's testimony of the Light, the King who came down and dwelt among us full of grace and truth, to adopt us as His own. Nick Reed also introduces a new segment called Ministry Spotlights by outlining his new role as Administrative Pastor.

  20. 1

The Gospel of John, Week 1

Cornerstone Community Church :: Austin Temperley :: Sunday, March 10, 2013 If the evidence was found to be contrary to what you believe, would you change your beliefs? Austin Temperley begins a new series on the Gospel of John, spotlighting the evidence for its historic reliability, "written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (John 20:31) We are also encouraged to read ahead in the coming weeks, ready to be amazed by what God reveals in this gospel.
