Portsmouth Gin & Chilli Festival

The first sunshine of the year saw our hosts Rodney and Tanya out of the studio and on the road, to experience the annual celebration that is the Portsmouth Chilli & Gin Festival. Located within the old walls of Fort Purbrook just on the outskirts of Portsmouth, the festival drew more than 2000 visitors per day. The grounds were packed with over 40 different vendors, selling and giving away samples of bespoke gin, rum, chilli sauce blends, spreads and pickles. There was also plenty of entertainment, live music and great food trucks and stalls.Our hosts are in the heart of the action in this extended episode of the festival talking to everyone from security and first aid staff, to the organiser and performers. There’s a real atmospheric vibe and feel to this location episode, along with genuinely, warm and delightful interactions with the festival public and vendors alike. They also say hello to a previous guest and finally get to sample some of their products. We’ll see if either of them is brave enough to take part in the chilli eating competition and learn a few tricks of the trade in order to go the distance.
