Portsmouth Protests and Police Response | Belfast News

Portsmouth erupted in tense, face-off demonstrations as anti-migrant protesters clashed with counter-demonstrators, police deploying heavily to prevent violence and enforce new laws against masked individuals. Authorities strictly enforced designated protest zones, warning non-compliance could lead to arrest — a direct response to last weekend’s chaos in Dover and Portsmouth, which saw damaged vehicles and injured officers. With the Home Secretary personally briefing police on countering far-right intimidation, officials are doubling down on maintaining order while upholding lawful, peaceful expression.
