Position of Neutrality: Choosing the Right Confidant in Steps 5, 6 & 7 AA

from Position of Neutrality

Join Joe McDonald as he reads from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, diving into the importance of choosing the right person to confide in during Steps 5, 6, and 7 AA. Joe explores the struggle many face when deciding who to trust with their intimate and confidential admissions and emphasizes the significance of spiritual awareness in these moments.“So rightly and naturally, we think well before we choose the person or persons with whom to take this intimate and confidential step. How many of you struggled with who to confide in? A lot of us do from one time to another. How many of you, when you finally met who to confide in, were blurting it out before you even had a conscious thought? Yeah, a lot of times that’s one of the first spiritual awarenesses—you just all of a sudden are telling something you didn’t expect to hear coming out of you. Those of us belonging to a religious denomination which requires confession must and, of course, will want to go to the properly appointed authority whose duty it is to receive it. So they’re not trying to get in the way of your religious practice. If you have a religious practice that requires confession, by all means, go to the confessional. However, there’s a caution.”Joe’s discussion sheds light on the careful consideration needed in selecting a confidant and the spiritual insights that often accompany this step.Join us as Joe McDonald reads and expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, offering deeper understanding and practical advice for those on their recovery journey.
