Position of Neutrality: Growing in Understanding and Effectiveness – Step 12

In the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, on page 98, it says, ‘It’s not the matter of giving that’s in question, but when and how to give.’ Last week, we discussed the importance of growing in understanding and effectiveness. I promised we’d talk about what we’re growing in effectiveness at this week. We need to be in conscious relation because we don’t want our giving to be a detriment to someone’s healing, but we also don’t want to be unkind when kindness is needed. For those of you familiar with biblical teachings, we give to everyone who asks of us, not necessarily what they ask.
