Possible Vacation Rental Tax For Affordable Housing In CB

from KBUT · host KBUT

The Town of Crested Butte is considering pursuing ballot language to help fund affordable housing by taxing short-term and vacation rentals in the town. Right now, discussions led to the possibility of voters deciding whether or not the industry would be taxed at a rate of 5%. The tax would help offset increased demand for jobs created by bringing more people to town by building year-round deed-restricted housing opportunities for workers. The council will discuss this further at the next meeting on August 21st.
