Post Election Thoughts

Missouri was loud and clear: the legislature did not give voters amendments worth changing our Constitution for.Now the question is—will our elected officials listen?My hope is that the Governor and General Assembly will look at this election as an opportunity to recognize that they need to do better. My concern is that instead, they’ll simply blame “stupid” voters for not understanding what they were trying to accomplish.But there’s a bigger issue here that goes beyond these two amendments.How did we get to a place where we think it’s acceptable to block someone simply because we’re annoyed with them or disagree with them? When did belittling someone for having a different viewpoint become acceptable?And perhaps most importantly, when did we decide that being a Republican—or belonging to any political party—means we have to defend everything our side does?I don’t belong to a political party, and I won’t allow any party to dictate what is right and what is wrong.Truth isn’t determined by a party platform, a politician, or a majority vote. Truth is found in one place—and I belong only to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.So here’s my question for those Republicans who supported these two amendments:Would you have supported them if Democrat leadership had put them forward?Big shout out to Michael Compton of Act for Missouri for writing an excellent book!
