Postmaster general says work has stopped on controversial computer system tied to Trump’s effort to limit mail voting

from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand

The U.S. Postal Service has stopped developing a controversial computer system tied to President Donald Trump’s effort to limit mail voting. The Supreme Court rejected Trump’s executive order this week. Postmaster General David Steiner says, "There’s an injunction, so we’re not doing anything." He emphasized the agency’s independence, but said he doesn't "get to decide what rules that are put on us." He says he looked at the Trump order "more from the execution side." Despite the Supreme Court's decision, there are still concerns about postmark delays affecting mail-in ballots. Steiner urged voters to submit ballots early. (Photo by Benjamin Fanjoy/Getty Images)
