In this podcast, we're going to continue working on potential passion and purpose. And this is a journey that you're going to take with yourself, basically. And when we think about our purpose, I want you to think about one of the most exciting discoveries is to discover your purpose. It's the reason why you do what you do.

And your purpose is your aim and your goal in life. And why did God create you? And it really is composed of your personality, your abilities, your likes, your dislikes, your worldview, your attitudes, your skills, everything that is you. Now, when I stop separating my likes from my dislikes and immixed it in with my desires, my talents and my personality, you know, I came up with me and it's the same for you.

In my opinion, you cannot be like anyone else. And imitation is really not this serious form of flattery. It really does produce a lot of frustration. And it's really stifles your own personal creativity.

We can desire to work hard as someone else, but we can never be another person. We are all individuals. And your purpose is what you love and who you are. And that's why comparing yourself to others is really futile.

And there is nobody like you. There's only you. There's one. You are one of a kind.

And you can't be like someone else. We can't even be like our brother or sister. Even if we're twins, we're going to have different personalities, different traits, different things that we do because of the gifts and the talents that are inside of us. And that's what pinpointing potential passion and purpose is all about.

It's about the things that you enjoy doing and incorporating that into your life. Or maybe you've had some situations where you've given up a lot of time and helped someone else or raised your family and you now you find yourself just sitting there looking around and like, well, gee, what about me? It's so quiet over here. Now, you know, once all your kids are growing a grandkids or or you're just home alone.

So think about these things as we work through it and make sure you have your journals handy. Make sure you're writing these things down and really thinking about it in your heart and not just writing anything down. Now, let's just keep going with our potential passion and purpose. Now, remember your potential exists in possibilities and are capable of development and realizing your dreams.

That's what our potential is. It is something that is capable of being developed. Your passion is that strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement that you have for something. And your purpose is why something is done.

A purpose actually means why something is done or used. And it really does encompass the aim and attention of something which is or someone which is you. So pinpointing and finding out what that is all about is our goal here. And as we continue with this process, this is part three of our process.

So of our series, so if you didn't listen to the first two, you want to go back and listen to those so that you can begin with the opening questions that we had in the first exercise. Now, this is exercise number two. And I want to encourage you not to give up. Sometimes we can start something and we just find it like, Oh, gee, I'm never going to get to the end of this.

And I had one time I had planted some seeds out in my porch and I didn't think anything was going to ever happen. It just seemed like it just wasn't growing or wasn't going to catch up. So one day I just decided, Oh, I'm just going to dump this out in the day that I decided to dump it out. I looked and there was a sprout that came out from under the ground.

So it just reminded me, you know, even though it may seem like a long time, it really isn't because something is really always happening. So let's begin with the next part of our exercise, which is evaluating your values, desires, your talents and your free time. That's the only thing we're going to do in this part of our exercise today. So what are your values?

This is a question you want to take your journal out and you're going to continue to write down. You want to keep everything in the same place so that you can go in and we can put it all together at the end. So what are your values? What do you value most in life when I say you like your family, your work, your church?

I want you to write down the three things that you value most in your life. Is it my family? Is it my work? Is it my church?

What do I value the most? The next thing you're going to write down are your desires. If you could do anything in the world, anything in the world, what would it be? Now, remember you can only you're only going to write down your top three things that I would just take pictures all day or I would cook all afternoon or I would sleep.

I had some students tell me that they would sleep and we ended up talking about hotels. So there's a place for all of that. Just write down those three things. If you could do anything, what would it be?

Now, your talents, that's the next thing you're going to evaluate. You're only going to write down three. What skills do you possess? Write down only the ones though that you enjoy doing, not the ones that you have to do, but the ones that you enjoy doing most.

It could be babysitting, cooking, writing. Just write down the three things in your talents and your skill set that you enjoy doing the most. Because we're going somewhere with this. Now, you're free time.

What do you enjoy doing during your free time? Is it gardening, photography, designing, clothes, shopping? Write down the three things that you desire that you enjoy doing in your free time. That means time that vacation, what have you?

And that might be one of the things you enjoy doing during your free time. So now we're going to evaluate your values, your desires, your talents, and your free time. So this is where the exercise comes in and I want you to find someone that you trust or you can just think about this on your own. You can ask another person to look at your answers.

And this is where you're a close friend or someone that you trust can look at your answers and see what you wrote down. And I want you to ask that person to assist you in evaluating your answers. Now, I want you to ask them to review all four categories that you wrote down, your values, your desires, your talents, and your free time to look at all the answers that you wrote down and to think about them and as a whole. Think about them all together.

And then that person is going to write down three careers that best suit your answers on a separate sheet of paper, not in your journal, but on a separate sheet of paper. So that's the exercise that I want you to because we're going to put this all together. So ask someone else to assist you in evaluating your answers. You wrote down three things that you value most, family, work, church, your desires.

If you do anything in the whole world, what talents do you possess, the ones that you love doing, cooking, writing, babysitting, your free time. You know, what do you enjoy doing, gardening, photography, designing, traveling. And then you're going to ask another person to assist you in evaluating your answers. They are going to and I'm just going through this twice.

Ask them to review all four of the categories to think about them as a whole and write down three careers that best suit your answers on a separate sheet of paper. Now, on that same sheet of paper, I want you to ask that person to finish the sentence. They can only list three careers, whether a counselor, dentist, trainer, cook, teacher, dancer. There are no wrong career choices.

Remember, there are no wrong career choices in this. And I know this takes a little bit of knowing, but you can do this. Now, I want you to ask them to complete this sentence. After looking over your values, desires, talents, and what you enjoy doing in your free time, you would make a good, what?

Ask them to complete that sentence. After looking over your values, desires, talents, and what you enjoy doing in your free time, you would make a good, whatnot. This is their answers. You're not going to help them write these answers down.

No coaching from you. And then we'll talk about what a self-analysis looks like. So make sure that they're doing this all in one time. Then we're going to talk about a self-analysis and what that looks like.

Because it's important when they write these three professions or careers down, do you see yourself doing any of those things? That's part of the self-analysis of this particular exercise. So it may take a little while, it may take a week or so to get the answers, or it may take a day or so. You can ask someone that you trust, like I said, just write down those things.

And have fun with it. You don't want to make it something that is going to cause you to be sad or feel like you're worthless or anything like that. That's not the purpose of what we're doing here. What we're doing here is trying to bring up to light some of the things that you could potentially do.

If you had to shift careers, or if you had to shift gears, or if you have a life changer, you want to do something new. It's really all about you and the things that you enjoy doing, because when you're doing something that you enjoy doing, others are going to benefit as well. So we're going to stop right there, listen to the podcast again if you missed the questions, but make sure that you're doing the exercise and keeping it all in one journal. Now when they write their answers down, they're going to use another sheet of paper.

So you're going to keep all of these things, keep it close to your heart, and thank you so much for tuning in today, and you, have a great one.
