POWER Gifts / The Gift of Faith

Last week, we introduced the POWER gifts—which collectively represent the power train of our church “car.” They provide the power that moves the church forward. We also stated that our posture on the POWER gifts at CHBC is one of “biblical expectation”: we want everything God has for us, governed by the peace and order of the Gospel. Consistent with that view, some POWER gifts are essential to the engine’s daily operation (and the life of our church), while others function more like specialized components—engaged in particular moments, like a turbocharger or traction control. Today, we turn to an essential element of engine power: the fuel itself—the Gift of Faith. As Reformed believers, we love Sola Fide—Faith Alone. We know we are justified by faith. But the spiritual gift of Faith in 1 Corinthians 12:9 is a distinct, supernatural empowerment for the daily life of the church.
