Power Two Podcast: It's time to tell your family you love them, College Football is back!

from Land-Grant Podcast Network: An Ohio State University podcast · host FFSN

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s Power Two Podcast. On this show, we talk about Big Ten and SEC football…and everyone else. This show is for the die-hard fans and the casual college football fans. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the major matchups of the previous weekend and look ahead at the games, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host DaNaysia Jones. Lock in as we run a power sweep through the college football landscape. At a glance week zero looked like a bad start to the college football season with Florida State and SMU being heavy favorites in the only two games with FBS schools on both sidelines. Instead, we got a major upset with Georgia Tech fighting Florida State to the end and winning on a last-second field goal to kick off the season. Florida State was ranked top ten but may have been grossly overrated after losing quarterback Jordan Travis, wide receivers Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman, plus star pass rusher Jared Verse. Florida State may still be competing for the ACC title but this is not a good start. Instead, Georgia Tech looks like it might build on last season and be a tough out in the ACC. It’s too early to know their ceiling but they won’t be an easy win or anyone if they can play like this all season.  DJ, an SMU alum, was worried about SMU going into this game, and with good reason, it seems. Despite being a heavy favorite SMU struggled with Nevada needing a 16-point fourth quarter to secure the win. It’s week zero, a win is a win - SMU is happy to survive and use this as a way to get better. Despite only being four games week zero showcased the beauty of college football. Any team can lose on Saturday, no matter their recruiting rankings, their team composite ranking, or their AP ranking. It may have been a bad slate of games on paper but college football always finds a way to produce.  With week zero in the books, it’s time to focus on week one. A Labor Day weekend tradition continues with games from Thursday to Monday. Overall there are a lot of potential blowouts but if you look deeper you may find some bangers. On Thursday we get North Dakota State looking to upset Colorado and Coach Prime. Friday is a good day to spend with the people you love but Saturday starts with a bang. Clemson vs Georgia and Penn State vs. West Virginia open up the weekend followed by Miami vs. Florida, Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M, and LSU vs. USC on Sunday. With multiple ranked on-ranked games, we’re going to get an early test of how teams respond to losing early and which teams can bounce back and make the 12-team playoff despite an early season loss. It’s been a long drama-filled offseason but we’re finally back!  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like the show, please share it with friends and family and leave a five-star review.
