Pray That You May Not Enter

Luke 22:40: Speaking of Jesus, “When He came to the place, He said to them, ‘Pray that you may not enter into temptation.’” There are many things that are tempting this generation. The list is just too long to name, but in this moment, it wasn’t a temptation of lust or addiction that Jesus was referring to. The temptation for the disciples was to abandon the divine purpose that God had for each of their lives. Pray, Jesus exhorted them. Pray that you don’t quit. Pray that you don’t turn away when it gets hard and when you don’t understand what’s going on around you. Pray as Jesus did, that when the hour comes, it will not be your will, but God’s will that is done. Pray like the Apostle Paul, and you’ll know with confidence that your light and momentary afflictions are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in you one day. It’s time to pray.
