Prayer against gossip Heavenly Father You are the God of truth justice and peace Your word tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue Proverbs 18:21 So today I come before you asking for your protection and guidance In a world where careless words can wound and destroy Lord forgive me for any time I have spoken when I should have stayed silent when I repeated what was not mine to share or listened with interest instead of love Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a right spirit within me Psalm 51:10 Set a guard over my mouth O Lord Keep watch over the door of my lips Psalm 141:3 Help me to be a peacemaker not a divider Let my words build up and not tear down Ephesians 4:29 When others speak gossip give me the courage to turn away to choose silence or to speak truth in love Protect me Lord from being the target of gossip Defend me from lies and slander Let no false words spoken against me take root or bear fruit You are my defender and my judge I trust in you Teach me to honor others in both word and thought Let me see people as you see them made in your image loved and redeemable Holy Spirit lead me into maturity Give me wisdom in every conversation Let my tongue be tamed by your spirit so that every word I speak glorifies you May my speech be seasoned with grace and my silence be full of wisdom in the name of Jesus Christ the Word made flesh who spoke only what the Father gave Him to say Amen
