Prayer: Forgive Us Our Debts

People easily excuse their own wrongs while reducing those who hurt them to their worst act. Sin leaves an unpayable debt to God, but Jesus pays it through His death; people receive forgiveness through faith in Him and confession of sin. Christians still ask daily forgiveness because sin disrupts that relationship. Forgiven people can face real harm without turning offenders into caricatures. Because God first shows mercy, they can release revenge and bitterness, cancel personal debts, and seek another's good even when reconciliation is not possible.
