Today we want to pray for those parents who have suffered the catastrophic loss of a child. The full Christmas story includes the gut wrenching and heart breaking account of Herod ordering the slaughter of young male children in Bethlehem in the attempt to eradicate the threat of a "coming King." Matthew 2:18 declares, “A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.” Only a parent who has lost a child knows the depth of that pain. Interestingly, God the Father is counted among those parents.
