Oh Dios el Hijo, Redentor del mundo/God the Son, Redeemer of the world, Ten piedad de nosotros/Have mercy upon us. O God the Holy Spirit, Sanctifier of the faithful, Have mercy upon us. Oh santo, bendito, y gloriosa Trinidad, un Dios/holy, blessed, and glorious Trinity, one God, Ten piedad de nosotros. Remember not, Lord Jesus, our sins, nor the sins of our fathers and mothers; neither reward us according to our sins. Deliver us, good Lord, deliver your people, whom you have redeemed with your most precious blood, and by your mercy preserve us for ever. Have mercy upon us. Deliver us, oh Lord, from the oppressive heritage and legacy of slavery and the ongoing sin of racism in our nation, Ten piedad de nosotros. From the oppressive institutions and systems that result in continued racial injustice in which we too often share, Have mercy upon us. From oppression or injustice within our own workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and churches that cause us suffering and pain and divide us from one another, Ten piedad de nosotros. From oppression and injustice that drive refugees and immigrants from their homeland and often leave them unwelcome in their new land, Have mercy upon us. Forgive us, oh Lord, for the sin of division that keeps us from living as brothers and sisters in your family, Ten piedad de nosotros. For when we fail to welcome and love brother and sister Christians because they were born in a different country, Have mercy upon us. For when we fail to welcome and love brother and sister Christians because they speak a different language, Ten piedad de nosotros. For when we fail to welcome and love brother and sister Christians because they come from a different culture, Have mercy upon us. For when we fail to welcome and love brother and sister Christians because they make a different amount of money, Ten piedad de nosotros. For when we fail to welcome and love a sister in Christ with the love of Christ because they are a woman or a brother in Christ because they are a man, Have mercy upon us. (Personal prayers of lament and confession may be included here.) We confess and lament our many unhappy divisions and we humbly ask you, good Lord, by the power of your cross to do what you have promised; to put to death our hostility, to destroy the dividing wall, to heal our divisions, to reconcile us to one another in Christ, to bring peace to those who are near and those who are far, to make us no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens together as God’s people and members of his household. Amen. Lord, build us up together in love on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone, and raise us up together into a holy temple in the Lord, the dwelling place of the Father and his family. Amen. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
