Praying by the Heart or by the Clock?

Send us Fan MailIn Matthew 17:2, Jesus said, “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” So, what does Jesus mean? Is He saying the more prayer, the more power? The more prayer, the more success? These are important questions because depending on the answer, we will have a biblical Christianity that has a motivation of prayer that is unique, or we will have an improper motivation for prayer that will lead to an unbiblical Christianity. In other words, Jesus’ answer provides us with the proper reason or purpose of all prayer. And let us not forget that prayer is a primary means of communion with God.
