Praying Through Acts: Acts 3 Lame Man is Healed

In Acts 3 it is 9:00 in the morning and two men are headed to the temple to pray. Their pace is interrupted when a lame man asks them for money. They don't look away uncomfortably avoiding him. Instead, Peter and John look at him. Peter says, "Look at Us!" So, the man looked, expecting to receive something...something? 6 BSB But Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have,  but what I have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!" 7Taking him by the right hand, Peter helped him up, (I never saw the gentleness of this action before…helped. What word does your translation use there?)  and at once the man's feet and ankles were made strong.  8He sprang to his feet and began to walk.  Then he went with them  into the temple courts, walking and leaping and praising God. 9When all the people saw him walking and praising God,  10they recognized him as the man who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. 12And when Peter saw this, he addressed the people: "Men of Israel, why are you surprised by this? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?   Peter continues to explain what happened. 16By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete healing  in your presence.   What do we see here? A miracle! Bold faith! An amazed crowd! The Gospel shared! We see faith mentioned twice. 1.      Faith in the NAME OF JESUS! 2.      The faith that comes through Jesus. Thank you, Father, that the Mighty Name of Jesus has not lost its power. Help us to remember, help us to believe, really believe that through your name the sick is healed and creative miracles take place. Give us the boldness to act on what we believe. In the Mighty Name of Jesus! Amen.
