Pre-Market Report – Monday 31 March: US markets stumble on inflation and tariffs | DHG agrees bid

Wall St sold off on Friday after new economic data reignited tariff driven stagflation concerns. Dow Jones down 401 points, closing on the low. S&P 500 down 2% and the Nasdaq down 2.7%. Discretionary stocks and Big Tech were hardest hit. Already in a sentiment low the mega-cap names fell. Microsoft (-3%), Apple (-2.7%), Amazon (-4.3%), Meta (-4.3%). Big Chips fared slightly better (still fell). They had underperformed all week. Financials, Materials and Defensives also dropped. Utilities were the only sector to finish in the green.
