We all face pitfalls as we make plans for our future, such as cultural distractions, voices of doubt, tempting shortcuts, and discouraging delays. The Gaithers wrote, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living, just because He lives.” As William Shakespeare said, “It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves,” may we determine to make strong and right choices for the coming year.
