Premier League 2025/26 Review!

On this episode of the Joy of Football Podcast, Martin Tyler and Neil Barnett bring the curtain down on the 2025/26 Premier League season with a full club-by-club review of one of the strangest, most dramatic and most revealing campaigns in recent memory. The pair discuss Arsenal F.C. finally ending the season as champions, the beginning of a new era at Manchester City F.C. following Pep Guardiola’s departure, and the growing sense that the Premier League is entering a period of major change both on and off the pitch. Neil categorises teams into groups, including the "underachievers", “what’s your ambition?”, “back where they belong” and more - leading to debate over clubs whose seasons felt successful, disappointing, confusing or simply directionless. There’s discussion about the sides heading into Europe next season, including Manchester United F.C. returning to the Champions League, Sunderland A.F.C. earning a remarkable place in the Europa League, and what European qualification could mean for several clubs trying to establish themselves at the top end of the table. Martin and Neil also reflect on the teams going down, the clubs whose futures suddenly look uncertain, and how Tottenham Hotspur F.C. somehow scraped their way to safety after another chaotic season that raised more questions than answers. There’s plenty on the major departures from the league too - players, managers and personalities leaving behind huge legacies after defining the Premier League era for years - as the pair consider whether English football may be about to enter a completely new chapter.
