PREMIERE > Ben Gomori - Sleazy Like Sunday Morning [Monologues Records Special Projects]

After 15 years of producing club tracks which have enjoyed support from everyone from Gilles Peterson to Disclosure and playing everywhere from Womb in Tokyo to Space and Pikes in Ibiza to fabric in London and Glastonbury, London-based producer and DJ Ben Gomori turns his hand to his first long-form release: ‘Collapsing Time’. Drawing on sounds ranging from the Balearic grooves celebrated by his Balearic London party and label (alongside Ariane V, Gaucho and Sarahtonin) to the progressive and breakbeat sounds of his youth, ‘80s synth pop and boogie and the peak-time house he is known for, the album features collaborations with the likes of Rui Da Silva—who also mixed and mastered the album—and rising talents like Carly Foxx, Daisybelle, Michelle Nova and Coco Cole. Featuring Gomori’s first songwriting efforts, the mood of the album is a mix of the euphoric and the melancholic, and draws on the theme of our elastic experience and struggles with time and its impact on our relationships. All tracks and lyrics were written and produced by Gomori, with additional guitar parts by Michael Jablonka (Michael Kiwanuka’s guitarist) and GRAMMY Award-nominated flamenco specialist, Glenn Sharp. The project represents a bold step forward for Gomori, showing his development as an artist with wider intentions and leaning into his love of pop music while retaining his dancefloor foundations.
