Following on from two unhinged standout EPs on UFO Inc., the Dutchman lays down a mischievous package of the weird and unexpected, fusing references to all sorts with a spring in his step and a donk on his drums. Never one to shy away from experimentation, his belief in the power of playfulness is balanced with a sincere appreciation for sound and a rigorous knowledge of technical production skill, and the results are, as always, complete bangers. Jumping straight into the ring, opening track ‘What is What’ takes a slice of house music history and flips it onto a new level of bounce, setting the tone for what’s to come. ‘Musicmaker’ spins into a more headless space, laying down a cyclone of acid licks driven by a razor sharp hi-hat. ‘Penniless Tonight’ is all about the kick, marching swiftly into the warehouse whilst never losing that sense of melody. Rounding things off is a psychedelic slice of casio trance on ‘Level 10 (Princess vs Bison)’.
