Brighton native via Bristol, Syz is an artist, DJ and co-founder of events conglomerate Method Lab. Having released on labels such as Pressure Dome and Only Ruins, Syz’s musical palette has dissected inspiration from all avenues of UK bass-driven dance music. Drawing on a diverse range of touchpoints from across the spectrum of UK club music, his latest EP for Control Freak is no different, encompassing precision-engineered soundsystem techno, mutant 2-step and West Country bass. Wrapping things up, Pressure Dome founder Yushh returns to Control Freak with her own flip of title track Bunzunkunzun, bringing down the BPM for a menacing rework that’s punctuated by her signature wonky rhythms.
