Available for download here: https://ronvanderzwaag.bandcamp.com/ Present Perfect We’ve used up all of our Congenial ‘tell me have you evers’ All that’s left are all the All the ones that I would never Tell you about Yes I knew that girl in the photo We were quite close Who nominated this Year Zero? Oh. Perfectness Mathematically, maybe grammatically it makes sense But for us I’m running for cover When you throw me that……. Perfect tense My heart is true. There’s no-one No-one else with claims upon it And those I knew before us Their traces linger and show up In words, thoughts and deeds A remedy, or a line that I borrowed A life, full and free We lose if we declare this Year Zero Oh perfectness……….. I’ll tell you about Every page, every line that I borrowed I’ll leave nothing out If we’re declaring this Year Zero (Thanks to my daughter Siobhan for the backup vocal)
