President Biden commutes Jimmy Dimora’s prison sentence | Reporters Roundtable

from Sound of Ideas · host Ideastream Public Media

President Joe Biden announced yesterday he was commuting the prison sentences of nearly 1500 people, one of the largest single acts of clemency in history. Among those receiving clemency: Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora. He had been serving a 25-year prison term after his conviction more than a decade ago in a corruption scheme that led the county to change its form of government. He was released in June 2023 for health reasons. The 69-year-old was to remain in home confinement until 2030 under terms of his release, but his full sentence has now been served. We will talk about Dimora to begin Friday’s Reporters Roundtable.
