President Donald Trump continued to blast Joe Kent Monday, his former counterterrorism director who resigned last week over concerns about the Iran war. Speaking to reporters as he left Florida for Memphis, Trump said he's "not a fan the guy" and hired Kent because he "felt badly for him." Kent resigned from his role as director of the US government's National Counterterrorism Center last week after concerns about the war with Iran, telling conservative host Tucker Carlson that he and other senior officials with doubts about the airstrikes “were not allowed” to share them with President Donald Trump. Kent said no intelligence suggested that Iran was working to develop nuclear weapons, and that he believes Israel was able to force the U.S. to act by promising to act first, potentially putting US interests in the region at risk.
