President Trump's Tax Returns - An Unnecessary Soap Opera

Federal law specifies that data supplied to the government on an income tax return is confidential. It further prescribes that it's a felony to breach that confidentiality by leaking income tax return information. Still, such leaks occur, and it seems that no one is ever punished for it. Now that it appears that the House Ways and Means Committee will be furnished copies of President Trump's tax returns, does anyone really believe they will stay confidential for long? There's only one way to turn this soap opera off--pass the FAIRtax and eliminate tax returns altogether.
