Nehemiah’s brothers came from Jerusalem to see Nehemiah in Babylon. They told him how unprotected Jerusalem was because the wall that surrounded and protected the city was destroyed. Nehemiah 1:4 says “When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven”.
