Presumptuous Sins

Charles Spurgeon preaches that while all sins are serious, "presumptuous sins" are the worst kind—these are sins committed deliberately against clear knowledge of right and wrong, with planning and intention, or with reckless confidence that you won't face consequences. He explains that presumptuous sins include things like sinning after being warned by conscience or loved ones, sinning repeatedly over time, sinning just to show you don't care about God's laws, or putting off repentance while gambling that you'll live long enough to repent later. Spurgeon urges even Christians to pray "Keep me from presumptuous sins" because anyone can fall into terrible sin without God's grace, and he pleads with guilty sinners to confess their presumptuous sins and trust in Jesus Christ who died to save even the worst sinners.Sermon delivered by Charles Spurgeon on June 7, 1857.
