Offensive line play is criminally underrated in College Football. Most football analysts are discussing quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs, defensive players, and even preseason Heisman lists before they touch on offensive linemen. An offensive coordinator can have as many elite skill-position players as he wants, but if he doesn't have a cohesive, consistent offensive line, his game planning will be severely limited. The Ohio State Buckeyes have a long and decorated history of developing high-level offensive linemen. For the past several decades Ohio State has always had one of the Big Ten's best offensive lines. They have also consistently had elite offensive lines that assist the powerful offenses put forward by Urban Meyer and Ryan Day. For the past two seasons, the Buckeyes have been uneven in the trenches, which has cost their rushing offense a great deal, especially in big games. Now, with guards Donovan Jackson and Matthew Jones returning, along with offensive line coach Justin Frye entering his second year, I expect the trenches to become one of Ohio State's clear strengths, especially on the interior. Today we will be previewing Ohio State Football's 2023 offensive line. I believe this unit will be Top 10 nationally, with Carson Hinzman having a breakout season at center and the guard duo being Top 3 in the nation. Offensive tackle still appears to be the weakness of this team entering 2023, but the competition at the position is far from over, and regardless of who starts, the unit should improve as the year goes on. The 2023 Ohio State Football team is going to be a physical unit that will pound the football, and the offensive line will be a huge reason why.
