from Finding God In Our Hearts with Msgr. Don Fischer · host Msgr. Don Fischer
Gospel Luke 10:38-42 Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.” Reflection So many people identify with this particular passage, and it reminds us all that there's a way in which we are more prone to doing things than to step away from things. Reflect. Wonder. Ask the harder questions. That's what Jesus is trying to prepare the world for when he comes into the world. Take time to listen to me. Listen to who I am. Listen to my heart and try to become like me. It's not about getting everything done, it's about growing, changing, evolving. That's the call of the gospel. Closing Prayer Father, we do have a responsibility to take care of the things that we are responsible to. But give us always a longing and a desire and the discipline it takes to pause and to reflect and to take care of ourselves and open ourselves to you. And we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
