Pride and Glory

from Above the Title: A Saoirse Ronan Podcast

This week, we take a look at Pride and Glory, Colin's follow-up to the smash success of In Bruges. A New York City crime thriller about a family of cops tested when one of their own turns out to be corrupt, the film comes from journeyman legend Gavin O'Connor, in between his two sports classics Miracle and Warrior. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't live up to the heights promised by the premise and the director, and is mostly just a muddled, boring mess. We talk about Colin's underbaked performance, the complicated career of his co-star Edward Norton, place this movie in the lineage of NYC crime films, and discuss how the success of In Bruges ended up destroying this movie's prospects... but really we just want to talk about Warrior. Have you seen Warrior? Warrior's the best movie ever made. "Warrior but with cops" is the best pitch of all time, what even happened here? Connor pits John Klute against the Babadook. Cole explains the QAnon action movie that's the new Christian exploitation sensation. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
