Pride and Prejudice Chapter XLIII

In which we accompany Elizabeth on a visit to the splendid Pemberley estate, where she is struck by the natural beauty of the grounds and surprised by the unexpectedly agreeable account of its master from his devoted housekeeper. An unforeseen meeting with Mr. Darcy follows, marked by a manner far more civil and softened than before, leaving Elizabeth both puzzled and contemplative about the changes she observes.
