Prince Charles Alexander

In this episode, I chat with Prince Charles Alexander. Mr. Alexander is a legendary producer, engineer, and educator whose career bridges the worlds of funk, hip-hop, and contemporary music production. He first rose to fame as the frontman of “Prince Charles and the City Beat Band,” fusing futuristic funk with early rap influences in the 1980s. After transitioning to audio engineering, he became a multi-platinum producer and mixing engineer, collaborating with artists such as Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy, Usher, and Aretha Franklin. A three-time Grammy winner with over 40 platinum and gold certifications, Mr. Alexander now serves as a Professor of Music Production and Engineering at Berklee College of Music, where he helped create the school’s Commercial Record Production curriculum and continues to mentor the next generation of producers.
