from People's Church · host Herbert Cooper
1. Peace comes from surrendering to Christ Eph 2:13-14 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, (NIV) Rom 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, (NIV) Acts 10:36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. (NIV) 2. You maintain the peace of God through prayer Phil 4:6-7 Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; and don't forget to thank him for his answers. 7 If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus. (TLB) 3. You maintain the peace of God by maintaining peace in your relationships Romans 12:18-19 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. (NIV) 4. You maintain the peace of God by honoring God with your life Romans 8:5–6 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. (NLT)
