Prince’s Island Park Gets a Refresh | Calgary News

Prince’s Island Park’s iconic playground—complete with cowboy hat swings and the Eau Claire Express slide—is nearing the end of its 20-year lifespan and is set for a major upgrade. With just one month left to share your feedback, Parks Foundation Calgary and the city are planning a refreshed design that honors Calgary’s unique character, with construction possibly starting next summer. But this local project is part of a bigger crisis: nearly 1,000 playgrounds across Calgary (82%) may need to close in the next decade without increased funding, as most were built to last only 25 years. City council will vote on playground funding in November—a critical decision for kids, families, and the future of Calgary’s public spaces.
