Lucifer grew envious of humanity after God created humans from dust and breathed His spirit into them. God placed Adam in charge of all earthly creations, which only fueled Lucifer's envy. As a result, he rebelled against God, deceiving Adam in the form of a serpent to seize the authority that God had given to Adam. Today, many people caught in this web of deception continue to worship Lucifer, convinced that he might still win. However, to the glory of God, Jesus, the last Adam, came to destroy the works of the devil. Consequently, anyone who accepts Jesus gains authority over the powers of darkness. Joseph references Isaiah 14:12-14 and Ezekiel 28:13-18 to elaborate on Lucifer's physical features and inner qualities, as well as the events that led to his downfall. Again, he clarifies how the devil became enamored with his beauty, leading him to take pride in it, believing it was his creation and not the Lord's. However, Luke 10:19 reveals the authority we have over Satan, as God has given us the power to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the enemy's powers; nothing shall harm us. Joseph also reassures us that we can overcome the powers of darkness when we have God's Word in us, as greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
