Prison Reform
from Between The Lines · host Michael Clayton
The United States has long touted itself as "The Land of the Free", but an alarming trend of rising incarceration rates, the expansion of penalties for non-violent crime, as well as the privatization of the prison system would suggest that that title may be hyperbolic at best. In this Episode we deep dive into the issues that have contributed to the erosion of our prison system, and the consequences of denying self reflection within that system itself. We discuss possible alternatives to incarceration as well as warnings about what lies beyond the path of authoritarianism we find ourselves currently speeding down, on cruise control, with no headlights.
