Private enterprise supporting local food aid when Democrats shut down Government
from KELY 1230AM/98.5 FM News and Commentary · host Wyatt Cox
With the government shutdown throddling SNAP and Government aid programs, local businesses are filling the gap. The White Pine Ministerial Association food bank is getting a big boost — Cal Ranch in Ely is taking donations and register round-ups and will match those donations up to $1,000. Ridley’s also came through early with food donations. With Thanksgiving baskets and the Community Christmas Dinner coming soon, the need is growing. The food bank is open behind Economy Drug, Thursdays 4:30 to 6:30 and Mondays 1 to 2 and your help is needed and your donations are appreciated. When Washington stalls, Ely steps up — proving once again that local action beats political gridlock, particularly from the party that made people reliant on such Governmental aid. Your comments are welcome, but please, donate.
