Bis 2040 planen die Münchner Stadtwerke, klimaneutral Warmwasser und Heizwärme durch Geothermie zu liefern. Die neueste und größte Anlage Kontinentaleuropas entsteht im Münchner Südosten, wobei München ideale geologische Bedingungen bietet. "Es brodelt unter der Stadt. Also es gibt viel heißes Wasser, viel Erdwärme", so Prof. Rolf Bracke. Er leitet die Fraunhofer-Einrichtung für Energieinfrastrukturen und Geothermie.
