Profiles in Courage: Agatha Halekulani Kerr

from The Stubborn Tortoise · host Donna Pazdera

This is the second in an occasional new spinoff where I talk to runners who overcome obstacles and reach seemingly unimaginable distances. Agatha Halekulani Kerr, a mom of two, with a full-time job, recently logged over 175 miles in 100 hours at the Jackalope Jam. The distance was achieved by running a 1.5-mile loop (.75 out and .75 back) on a grass-and-gravel ranch road. Two months earlier, she got in 125.66 miles in 55 hours at the Snowdrop Ultra. She is one of the humblest and most supportive runners I know. She is now the head coach for the San Antonio Off-Road Runners and has been a mentor and assistant coach before that. Agatha's enthusiasm for running is apparently contagious: her 10-year-old daughter, Aurora (pictured with her mom), ran 12 miles at Jackalope Jam -- setting a new PR.
